Groups President Leaves Springfield Clinic
The Sangamon County Medical Societys new president, an allergist and immunologist who has practiced at Springfield Clinic for more than eight years, left the clinic last week, apparently as part of a disagreement with her employer.
Dr. Dareen Siri, 40, now is practicing in Normal at Midwest Allergy, Sinus & Asthma, a group practice she purchased last fall, she told The State Journal-Register Tuesday.
I think it was just time for a change to kind of go out and do something different, she said. Springfield Clinic is a fine medical institution.
She said she eventually plans to return to working full time in Springfield after remodeling is completed at a building she has purchased near her temporary-practice location in the next three or four months.
I think it will be a wonderful opportunity, she said. I think I have a lot to offer.
Siri said there was a mutual separation between her and Springfield Clinic, but she has no plans to move from Springfield, where she lives with her husband and their four children.
She wouldnt say what led to her departure from Springfield Clinic but said she didnt plan to leave the clinic at the time she purchased Midwest Allergy from Drs. Anjuli and Nicholas Nayak.
The Nayaks sold their medical practice and clinical research center, which they owned for 27 years and operated as Sneeze, Wheeze & Itch Associates, after Anjuli Nayak was diagnosed with leukemia in December 2010 and began undergoing treatment.
